Culinary community colleges are usually a less expensive option for a culinary education.

In fact, many community colleges, also called junior colleges, offer the greatest bargains, cost-wise, available in education.

There are advisers for support and counseling on all matters including possible transfers to local 4-year schools.

Community colleges sometimes have housing on the campus and campus eating facilities.

Excellent, and often unique, programs are offered.

Keep in mind that even though these schools have accreditation, they vary in their degree of quality. There is no substitute for a personal visit to the school to see for yourself if the school is right for you. It is best to have a hands-on program approach if this is what you want.

Residence in the state the college is in (see residency requirements for the college) assures a lower tuition than out-of-state students. For the most reasonable cost, see what community colleges are closest to your home location. Community colleges usually have the same services of regular 4-year schools.
